Iguana are Gela & Madame Excuse.
They crossed paths shortly in London in 2009, but it wasn’t until 2013 when they ran into each other again in Madrid and
realized that together they could make the world a better place. Both counting on many years of experience inside and outside
the booth, their sound oscillates somewhere between disco, old school house, funk, as also shows influences of black and brazilian beats.
Some time ago, they started a new adventure towards their own production, and they also started curating ‘A Night Out With Iguana’, where
they experiment and explore within long sets and reclaim the figure of resident djs.
Gela began making her way to djing around 2003, in Ocio Bar, Murcia. Since then, she has lived and nurtured from different sources around the globe, making her sound a mixture of brazilian, space disco, acid, electro and oldskool, to name a few.
In 2013 Gela moved to Madrid, where she reconnected with Madame Excuse. Together they are Iguana, and their style lies between organic and analogic sounds, always keeping a foot on the groove.
Gela has played in clubs all over, such as Metro Dance Club, Moss, and Bar Ocio in Murcia; Sala Om and Razzmatazz in Barcelona; Lokee, Toi Toi or Bar 25 at Corsica Studios in London; Wilden Renate or About Blank in Berlin; Siroco, Café Berlín, Sala Sol or Brunch In the Park in Madrid, Dabadaba in Donosti, y sharing the booth with Selvagem, Red Axes, Young Marco, Zozo, Alienata, Octo Octa or Michael Mayer amongs others.
Her only premise is making the dancefloor vibrate and creating the perfect atmosphere in every set.
Methodical music collector, Madame Excuse got started as a little girl stealing her siblings’ records to listen to them in hiding. She is heavily influenced by Funk, Soul, Hip Hop and Disco, but also doesn’t shy away from elegant, potent electronic tunes. She combines genres in her sessions with stunning fluidity and a technique that puts the music first. In recent years she’s been in the most interesting booths around Madrid, including berlinClub, Siroco or Marula, both spinning alone and as part of the Iguana duo.
